Jamming To The Fuzz

The corner at the entrance to the galley was chamfered and it work out so damn well, that it had to be done on the other side too - Thanks Ruf! The lights in the galley and in Rufus and Kate's cabin were installed and the whole saloon was given a top coat, enabling us to finally install the radio and  speakers. The sound of the fuzzy radio was pretty awesome but next time we'll be sure to bring along some decent tunes. The party is getting started!

Hoova Manoova

It was back to work this weekend and with the new addition to our crew, Kärcher aka The Hungry Kanarie, plenty was done! New shelving was added alongside the pilot berth and both the salt water and fresh water pumps were dry fitted in the galley. All the recent add-ons were given a couple of layers of primer and are ready for top coat. The floor boards have been removed and taken to the workshop and we’re looking forward to their return. The “Kanarie” was put to good use and we gave the entire boat a thorough and well deserved clean.

Summer Berth

The weather last weekend was absolutely incredible and in perfect  timing for one of the first weekends we've given ourselves off in a while. Wilhelm enjoyed three days of sailing with Joe and Nigel in the Spring Regatta on a 24ft Flameca, while I soaked up some Cape Town warmth. On Saturday evening we celebrated my 26th Birthday with friends on Clifton beach to a perfect sunset,  which was followed by a lively family lunch in Stellenbosch on Sunday.

The galley is coming along nicely and after much thought we decided to redo the pilot berth in the saloon. The daunting task took far less time than we expected and the structure for the berth, together with the storage area, is basically complete and looking great! The next challenge is to lift up all the floor boards and have them sanded and painted. While the boards are out of the boat, we'll need to hook up the water tanks and finish off all the other systems within the saloon.

Caught in the Dust

Finally the weather gave us a break, allowing us to get started on the galley. The utter excitement of this prospect motivated us to work at a whirlwind pace. When the dust had finally settled, there stood a structure vaguely resembling a kitchen. The hard work was rewarded by a visit from Chris and Carla who treated us to an awesome picnic on deck - LEGENDS.
